Beautiful Jessamyn at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden

All photos by Araujo Photography.

It was a perfect fall day. The forecast called for a thunderstorm at the exact time of the ceremony but as the day went on, it was clear that it was not meant to be. As it turned out, the storm veered north and missed the wedding entirely. God continues to bless us with wonderful weather for our brides!

Jessamyn and Chad were married outdoors at the beautiful Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Everything about the day was so special! Jessamyn’s gorgeous dress, the adorable flower girls, the handsome groom and groomsmen. Take a look at the photos and swoon. The vendors are all listed below. Call us for your outdoor or barn wedding! We’d love to assist you!

Best wishes to Jessamyn and Chad!

Ashley and Eli’s Wedding

It was a beautiful fall day. We hoped for sun and sure enough God granted our wish! Sara and I arrived early to begin the coordination of Ashley and Eli’s wedding. April and her dedicated staff at Mocha Rose was there to place all the stunning floral arrangements. E.F. Lighting strung twinkle lights on the greenery in Aaron Courtyard. Rachel, Steve, Bob and Mack at Rodef Shalom couldn’t do enough for us.

Common Plea was hard at work inside of the huge kitchen, preparing beautiful appetizers and awesome entrees. Eli and his groomsmen arrived first. We hid them in the temple until Ashley and her bridal party arrived. We all held our breath and peeked out the window as they took their first look. It was as if time stood still for a few magic moments.

Rabbi Stein soon arrived and the time of the ceremony grew closer. Bill Strayne and his band, In Transit, began tuning up in Freehof Hall. Gorgeous vases of flowers appeared on the dinner tables. It was time!

We could tell you more but the photography will say it all! Thank you so much to Michael Will who captured the day so beautifully! Enjoy!

How the Weather Can Influence Your Event

Pin on PinterestTweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on TumblrShare on LinkedInShare on Google+Email this to someone
Blankets are a great idea for outdoor events! Source.

Yesterday it was May 15 and the temperature hovered in the 50’s. The day before saw temperatures much the same including big dark clouds, wind and rain. This is Pittsburgh- the windy city. It is also a city where if you are planning an outdoor event you need to consider the weather.

We always forewarn our clients that if they choose to have an outdoor event in April (don’t even consider it), May, September or October, they must either have a back up plan or reserve patio heaters from a local rental company. These can be placed around your pavilion or outdoor area.

In our experience, even barn weddings can be quite chilly in early spring or fall. Guests will frequently dress in clothing that is not warm enough. We were witness to short dresses and sandals at a barn wedding last year where temperatures hovered in the 60’s with wind and rain. Part of the barn was wide open and yes, it was chilly.

What’s the best way to deal with these issues? Here’s a checklist if you’re absolutely set on a May, September or October outdoor event:

  1. Is your venue/barn heated?
  2. Does your pavilion or tent have sidewalls that can be rolled down in case of rain?
  3. Have you reserved patio heaters from your rental company?
  4. Consider baskets of rolled up lap blankets placed around the barn for guests.
  5. Have an insert in your invitation that reminds guests to dress appropriately for the weather.
  6. Have a back up plan if you are at an outdoor pavilion.

If you’re renting a pavilion in a questionable weather season, consider having a church hall, community center, or fire hall on reserve in case of chilly temperatures or bad weather. This may cost you just a bit, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Take one barn, one beautiful couple, and a whole lot of amazing family and what do you have? Danina and Preston’s wedding! There couldn’t have been a more beautiful back drop than the Barn at Soergel Hollow for this beautiful September Sunday. There were so many vintage touches- from the milk glass vases, to the sweetheart table, to the mason jar glasses for all.

We loved Danina’s beautiful gown and Preston’s laid back bow tie look. Sunflowers were everywhere, including the groom’s lapel and the table centerpieces. The awesome meal was catered by Steve Thompson of Bluebird Kitchen. He worked under some pretty rustic conditions and his food was amazing. Pulled pork, barbequed chicken, roasted vegetables. Everything was delicious!

As the evening sky grew dark, the vista around the Barn was absolutely breathtaking. The guests had a massive cookie table and DJ Lea Guarino to keep them going. We are certain that Danina and Preston will have memories and love to last a lifetime!
